FAQ

Q: What is the difference in price between refacing and replacing?

A: Refacing involves replacing all of your doors, handles, end panels, back panels, crown moulding, light valance etc... these are the more costly components in the kitchen, so what the means is that refacing costs are usually more than replacement costs, and what you don't get is a new more functional layout and better cabinet and drawer construction. This has been proven time and time again as many of our happy clients were initially looking at refacing their kitchen.

Q: How do I go about getting an estimate.
A: Getting an estimate is relatively simple. You can either bring us a general sketch or you can have one of our designers do a quick in home measure. Once we have the measurements we will design your kitchen using our Kitchen planning software and present it to you along with your estimate for that particular design. The more information you have ready upfront the sooner we will have an accurate estimate. For instance if you were thinking of having your backyard landscaped it would be wise to have an idea of the scope and general design of the job prior to the landscape designer putting together a $150,000 oasis, when all you wanted was a pergola and some outdoor furniture. Similarly in kitchen design if you can imagine that there are numerous ways to layout a kitchen and even more ways to make it look and function better, from elaborate canopy hoods and hand carved columns to drawers that open at the push of a button. Your kitchen really is a blank piece of canvas in the eyes of the designer and they can achieve anything you want, so having a good idea of your style and perhaps better still some magazine clippings of designs you like will be enormously beneficial to the designer and yourself alike as they will immediately know what to draw for you and you will have an accurate estimate.

Q: How long does it take to get a kitchen custom made for my home?
A: Allow yourself approximately two weeks for the design process (depending on the scope of the design). Careful planning will make your new kitchen more functional and beautiful. From the time the order is placed it takes 4-5 weeks to manufacture a stained kitchen from one of our standard stain colours. (Painted and glazed kitchen will require an additional 2-3 weeks of manufacturing time). Once the kitchen is delivered our installers need an average of 2-3 days to complete the install (higher end custom jobs will require more time accordingly).

Q: How do you compare to your competitors?
A: We offer a limited lifetime warranty on all of the products we manufacture. Because we hand craft all of our cabinets from raw materials we have full control over the quality of product that is shipped to our clients. Having our own factory also gives us the flexibility to creating just about any cabinet and colour you can imagine for a nominal custom fee (browse the gallery for some examples). It also allows us to keep our prices low by eliminating the middle man.

Q: What sets your cabinets apart from others?
A: We have three lines of construction that span the range from white melamine or hardrock maple, to varnished plywood construction. All of our cabinets are constructed using wood dowels and screws for maximum durability and weight carrying capacity.
We also have three drawer options. Our standard drawer is a metal drawer with a thick base for higher load capacity and years of trouble free operation. And our top of the line drawer is an all maple dovetail joint constructed drawer box with concealed anti-slam full extension ball bearing slides.
Our doors are constructed using a floating panel technique which utilizes rubber spacers between the frame and panel. This allows the door to expand in the summer without stressing or breaking the joints.
Our paint finishes are the best on the market. It is multiple layers of top quality paint that are applied in a high temperature bake booth for proper curing. This technique is equivalent to an automotive finish in terms of durability and quality. Settling for a lesser quality finish will not pay in the long run when your finish begins to peel.
